Offering you an unforgettable golfing experience!


The City of Southfield boasts two beautiful nine-hole public golf courses: Beech Woods Golf Course and Evergreen Hills Golf Course. Golf classes, both group and private, are offered year-round for novice as well less advanced golfers in addition to numerous tournaments held throughout the golf season to allow you the opportunity to show off those new skills! Check out the Fall 08/Winter 09 P&R Activities guide (pdf) or call (248) 796-4655 for more details.

Residents and those employed in Southfield who have a Business Leisure Card , may purchase a Call-In Card (see details below) that allows holders to reserve tee times by phone up to one week in advance.

Beech Woods Golf Course
The Beech Woods Golf course is a beautiful 2,778 yard, par 34 course that includes a 50-tee, lighted driving range and a PGA Professional on staff. Private and group lessons are offered. A fully stocked pro shop is located on the grounds featuring everything from balls and gloves to clubs, bags and shoes as well as club repair including re-gripping and re-shafting. Clubs, pull carts and power carts are also available for rent through the pro shop. You can contact the Beech Woods Golf Course at (248) 796-4655.

Beech Woods Driving Range
Improve your skills by visiting the 50-tee driving range located at Beech Woods Golf Course (22202 Beech Road, south of Nine Mile Road). The range is open daily until 10:30 p.m., weather permitting. Current Driving Range fees can be viewed in the Member Use/Fees Services section.


Evergreen Hills Golf Course
Evergreen Hills Golf Course, located at the Southfield Municipal Complex at 26000 Evergreen Road, is a 2,904 yard, par 34 course with beautifully landscaped greens. A pro shop featuring supplies for every golfer and a grill are located on site. Clubs, pull carts and power carts are also available for rent through the pro shop. Please contact the Evergreen Hills Golf Course at (248) 796-4666.


Terri Anthony-Ryan, Head PGA Professional
 
Terri Anthony-RyanTerri Anthony-Ryan has been the Head Golf Professional for the City of Southfield for 17 seasons. She became a PGA member in 1984 and was voted 'Teacher of the Year' for the state of Michigan in 1996. Along with these honors, Terri has been recognized annually as one of the top teachers in the country by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. She is Head Coach for the University of Detroit Mercy’s Women’s Golf Team and teaches nationally for the PGA as well as serving as a board member for the Midnight Golf Program.

Terri oversees the daily operation of both courses from tournaments and merchandising the pro shops to conducting group and private lessons and scheduling and overseeing golf outings. To contact Terri please e-mail tryan@cityofsouthfield.com or call (248) 796-4655.

League Information


If you are interested in starting a golf league for your group or office, times are available at both the Beech Woods Golf Course and Evergreen Hills Golf Course. Leagues are a minimum of 16 weeks and may scheduled through Kathy Haag khaag@cityofsouthfield.com at the Parks & Recreation main office. Please contact Kathy for fees and more information.

Call In Card


Residents and those employed in Southfield (who have purchased a Business Leisure Card) may purchase a Golf Call-In Card for $20, entitling them to reserve tee times by phone. For further information, please call (248) 796-4606.

Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays:
Call-in allowed up to ONE WEEK in advance. Only one reservation accepted per day/per course. You may call in to reserve times between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Same Day Reservations:
Phone reservations are taken beginning promptly at 6:00 a.m. at EHGC and 7:00 a.m. at BWGC. (This may vary in the early spring and late fall.) Those arriving in person at 6:00 a.m. are often able to secure a more desirable time than those who call for a tee time.

No-Show Policy
If a cardholder fails to show or cancel the reserved tee time more than twice (2x), throughout the year, your Call-In Card will be revoked.
 

Did You Know?

  • The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for 780 acres of park land and open space at 33 sites throughout the City. Of the 780 acres of park land, over 333 acres are dedicated nature preserves.

  • The City of Southfield is home of Michigan’s first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. Working with The Miracle League, the City constructed a special field designed with a custom synthetic turf and handicapped accessible dugouts, restrooms and drinking fountains.
  • The Parks & Recreation Department offers hundreds of recreation programs at facilities which include two nine-hole golf courses, a lighted driving range, a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool, a senior adult center, an indoor athletic field house, an indoor ice arena and a neighborhood recreation center.

  • The Senior Gardens at the Mary Thompson Farm provide plots to over 100 enthusiastic gardeners who offer tours to school and scouting groups. The Senior Gardens have been recognized as one of the best community gardens in the nation by the John Deere Company and have received numerous awards from the Michigan State Fair.
